چکیده

Recurrence quantification analysis (RQA)was used to analyse force signals during sustained sub-maximal grip contraction (SSGC) of three types of patients suffering from a metabolic muscle disorder (glycogen storage disease type III (GSD III), glycogen storage disease type V (GSD V) andmitochondrial myopathies (MITO)) compared to control subjects. Recurrence plots (RP) of patients showed clear non-uniformity, in comparison to control subjects who displayed quasi-periodic patterns. Quantitative analysis of the eywords: uscle contraction trength etabolic muscle disorders onlinear analysis RP showed significant differences between patients with metabolic disorders and the control group for four RQA parameters. The results showed that the SSGC signals of patients had decreased Lmax, which indicatedmore chaotic patterns. In addition the deterministic component of the signalswas less complex for patients than for controls. The differences of SSGC signal observed using RP and RQA were possibly related to the underlying changes in metabolism of muscle fibres due to the disease. Results of this study chniq haos theory ecurrence quantification illustrate that the RQA te

Hyperbaric oxygen and muscle performance in maximal sustained muscle contraction.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO2) on sustained maximal muscle contraction. METHODS Fifty-two healthy volunteers participated in the study. Thirty-four experimental subjects breathing 100% oxygen at 253kPa (2.5ATA) in a multiplace hyperbaric chamber performed a maximal grip contraction for one minute (initial grip) followed by a 30-se...

Evaluation of sustained grip strength for a stroke patient with a mild paresis.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a sustained grip strength test is workable as an accurate assessment of activity limitation related to muscle weakness of the paretic hands of stroke patients with mild pareses. Sixty-one stroke patients with mild pareses participated in this study. The maximal grip strength and an ability to sustain grip strength were examined with the Susta...

Forearm blood flow during and after isometric hand-grip contractions.

1. A method is described for the measurement of forearm blood flow during sustained voluntary isometric hand-grip contractions that can be maintained constant by the subject’s monitoring of the strength of his contractions. 2. In most subjects it was found that contractions of 5% of their maximal voluntary force could be maintained without fatigue, and without any post-exercise increase in bloo...

Clinical evaluation of vasomotor system functionality in type 2 diabetic Patients

Background: Autonomic neuropathy and vital organ dysfunctions are the known complications in type 2 diabetes Mellitus (DM). Genetic endowments involving individuals make subtle differences in physiological systems, particularly at the time of sickness. Hence, the presented study was designed to evaluate the vasomotor system in healthy people and type 2 DM cases for determining any functionality...

Hand grip fatigability in persons with multiple sclerosis according to hand dominance and disease progression.

BACKGROUND Hand grip strength in both the dominant and non-dominant hands is often used to assess upper limb impairment. Excessive hand grip fatigability is another important measure, as fatigability may also influence activities of daily living. OBJECTIVE To investigate to what extent hand grip fatigability in multiple sclerosis is dependent on hand dominance, muscle strength and disease pro...
